Having effectively made the Swiss population aware of the fight against child trafficking through its preceding 5-year campaign with the message: «Stop child trafficking - Children are not merchandise», Terre des hommes - child relief launches its new campaign for the coming three years on the theme: «Stop violence towards children!»

The campaign and its message

When wars or catastrophes occur, children are the most vulnerable victims of violence. They are in urgent need of help and protection. For 47 years, on 4 continents, Terre des hommes has come to their rescue. Our emergency actions in the context of war in Lebanon, Afghanistan or Darfour have aided thousands of children.

Here and elsewhere, Terre des hommes wants to take action and protect even more children like:

In Ecuador, we protect children against abuse and family violence, support impoverished parents and take the perpetrators to court. In Quito and Santo Domingo we look after the victims of abuse in 12 centers for children.

In Eastern Europe, we have been successfully and relentlessly fighting against child trafficking for the past five years. We open up new perspectives for the youngsters, offering them training and protecting them against the risks of exploitation. In this way they are no longer easy prey for the traffickers.

In the Near East, we take care of the children traumatized by the war. In Syria and Jordan we intervene for the children of Iraqi refugees and offer them care, food and psychological support.

In Bangladesh, in Brazil and in Burundi, children in a street situation can find refuge in our day-centers: these havens of peace protect them from violence, they get food and care, and can attend school or training courses.

And in Switzerland?
Here, as well, too many children are victims of physical brutality, abuse or negligence. For them we work out and implement, alone or through a network, efficient measures in the domain of protection and children's rights. Each and every child in Switzerland should be treated with respect and be able to grow up in safe surroundings.

Terre des hommes already protects thousands of children from violence. But there is still so much to be done . . . Thanks to your support we can achieve even more, in Switzerland and elsewhere in the world.
