globe Child Protection Policy

The Child Protection Policy is a code of conduct that Terre des hommes deploys in most of its interventions, as a minimum standard not only to be respected by all of its colleagues in Switzerland and abroad, but also by all of its social, humanitarian, economic and political partners and representatives, together with whom we implement our work out in the field. The objective is to influence as many participants as possible to respect the code of conduct and to put in place best practice techniques in their respective areas. This is a primary objective for Terre des hommes.

Tdh Bessaoud girls BrazilTerre des hommes policy is to protect the rights of the child, which assumes the prevention of abuse in all its forms, whether negligent or physical, psychological or sexual. Terre des hommes strives to raise awareness of child abuse; to prevent, highlight, denounce and react to problems of child abuse; to reduce the risk through effective recruitment procedures and to develop an open and informed culture within the organisation and in its work with children.

The essence of the code of conduct can be expressed as follows:
Child abuse is a critical issue for Terre des hommes, which is determined to confront it through its work in the area of children’s rights and through its relationships with people and groups of children.

All the employees of Terre des hommes in Switzerland and abroad (expatriates and local employees) clearly understand their role and their responsibilities with regard to the prevention of child abuse.

All Terre des hommes employees clearly understand the procedure for receiving and dealing with potential child abuse problems.

All Terre des hommes employees adhere to this code of conduct, as a general condition of employment.
