Nation-wide activities run by volunteers from Terre des hommes
Terre des hommes Headquarters proposes and coordinates numerous nation-wide activities carried out at the same time by our Working Groups in Switzerland. These national activities regularly punctuate the life of Terre des hommes volunteers who, united at a national level, have a resounding impact on our cause of relief for children and on the dynamism of our active membership base. Besides local activities, they confirm that something's happening every day in the world of Terre des hommes!
The best-known of Terre des hommes' nation-wide actions is the traditional sale of oranges which takes place every March in the streets of Switzerland and direct to firms in the German-speaking part. Round as the globe, bright as a smile, these «zest of life» oranges, sold at CHF 2.- each, bring in funds to help those children who cannot be cared for suitably in their own countries and who need specialized treatment for heart conditions, for example.
Other activities proposed by Terre des hommes are the Music Project, the Marches of Hope, the Restaurant Initiative on World Food Day (16 October) and Odd Job Day on International Child Rights Day (20 November).
