For World Food Day on 16th October 2012, Terre des hommes is organising an initiative of solidarity, catering companies, retirement houses and food industries. This programme is taking place for the 17th time in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Those who take part agree to donate their day's takings towards the nutritional projects run by Tdh in 16 countries of intervention. In 2011, thanks to more than 500 participating restaurants, our partners and to all the people who ate out that day, nearly SFr. 240,000.- was collected to benefit children's health care!

Again this year, many people in the catering industry will be giving their support to these children!

Over 500 establishments rally round each year to help children in need.

“We are associating ourselves with Tdh as World Food Day occurs during The Week of Taste, with the aim of letting children discover the flavours of the most simple products – vegetables. We get them to taste beetroot, celery chips or sweet corn and show them that they can be prepared in various ways. On that particular day, 10% of the takings of the ‘Cerf’ will be donated to Tdh.”

With SFr. 300.-:

  • We look after 3 undernourished children in Bangladesh for 12 months
  • We finance 52 kits of basic foodstuffs for expectant mothers and their newly-born babies in Afghanistan
  • We finance a water purification set for 600 people in Myanmar
